I came here because of the positive reviews for accommodating emergency patients but was met with an endodontist who seemed put out that we were there and a dental assistant who was down right hostile. I wouldn’t go back here if my life depended on it. Maybe the positive reviews were of the front desk receptionist who was very kind and sympathetic.

Eight years ago, Dr. Zohn helped me through a difficult dental situation, and I had a very positive impression of him. Unfortunately, this recent experience was the complete opposite. I ended up needing a root canal with Dr. Thai, and it was one of the most painful dental experiences I have ever had. After the procedure, my mouth was hurting so badly that I actually drove back to the office hoping someone could help me, provide something for the pain, numb the area, or at least explain whether the level of pain I was experiencing was normal. Instead, I left feeling like nobody cared. The receptionist was rude both on the phone and in person. Rather than showing concern for a patient who was clearly in severe pain, she spoke to me in a condescending manner and acted as though I was bothering her. At one point, she chastised me for not having started the antibiotics yet, even though fewer than four hours had passed since the appointment. I was in severe pain and looking for help, and instead I was spoken to as though I was stupid. What made that comment even more frustrating is that the antibiotics were only prescribed because I suggested them. At the conclusion of the appointment, Dr. Thai said she was not planning to prescribe antibiotics. I raised concerns because I know infections can sometimes develop after dental procedures and asked that they be considered. Had I not brought it up myself, I would not have received them at all. To then be criticized for not having taken them immediately after leaving the office was both unprofessional and insensitive. The dental assistant was no better. Every time I asked a question, she rolled her eyes, sighed, or exhaled dramatically as though I was inconveniencing her. Patients naturally have questions when someone is drilling through a crown and performing a root canal. Those questions deserve respectful answers. If a patient is nervous, in pain, or wants clarification about what is happening to their tooth, that should not be met with eye rolling and attitude. To make matters even more uncomfortable, there was a young man in the reception area who stared at me for an extended period. I noticed him doing it earlier that same day before my appointment, and then again when I returned to the office in severe pain looking for help. I have no idea who he was or what his role was, but the repeated staring was strange, noticeable, and made me uncomfortable during an already stressful situation. What was most frustrating is that I was sent home in severe, throbbing pain with nothing more than a recommendation to take Tylenol. The pain was so intense that I actually considered going to the emergency room. When I returned to the office looking for help, compassion, or some form of relief, I felt dismissed instead. Nobody seemed concerned with the amount of pain I was experiencing. I would never allow Dr. Thai to work on my teeth again. I still think highly of Dr. Zohn based on my past experience with him, but in my opinion, he has made a mistake with some of the people currently representing this practice. My experience left me feeling ignored, disrespected, uncomfortable, and abandoned while dealing with severe pain. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this office. Review from 2018: I went there to have a retreat of a root canal that was done many years ago. Dr. Zohn was exceptionally nice to me. He has very good communication skills and made me feel at home. I was very comfortable considering the circumstances. The job he did on my tooth was excellent. He took various x-rays to confirm that the mission was accomplished and they even showed me on the x-ray. He even sent me home with a copy of the x-ray for my Dentist. Of course i was a little sore for a day or two. That's what a root canal is. Especially a retreat because they have to dig in there and in my case many years had passed. Sometimes it even requires an additional surgical procedure but the Doctor was able to avoid that. I would recommend this practice for anyone needed a root canal!

Went in for my 1st root canal and everything couldn’t have gone any better. Everything was explained through a video and with the Dr. made me feel comfortable. Felt no pain whatsoever. Procedure was about an hour. Highly recommend this practice.

My first time there and everyone was professional yet friendly and engaging . From the front office to the dental tech. I didn’t feel like I was at a specialist’s office, where they don’t know you and they’re only there to provide a one-time service. It was like being at your family dentist’s. Dr. Pellicano was sincere and made me feel comfortable , he explained each step of the way, it was basically painless. Great bedside manners. He’s young and very handsome Lol. The staff here is amazing. Super friendly, effectient and helpful in every way!!!! Can't say enough nice things about this staff. However, Dr Thai, has absolutely no bedside manners. She is cold, not friendly, super rushed with me and coerced me into taking a 3D MRI of my mouth when she know the tooth had to be extracted. She knew this by the initial regular xray she took. Her answers to all of my questions prior to the 3D MRI was " i don't know. That's why we need to take the 3D MRI so I can better assess" The 3D MRI is not covered by ANY insurance and is $350. Im so upset because I initially asked about extracting the tooth because it was a molar. She said she needed to see if the infection spread. This scared me and so I agreed. Please don't fall for this scam people!!!! The doctor is able to see everything with the regular xray. Im so disappointed in this doctor and want to help and warn others. Do NOT use Dr. Thai in Ocean NJ. She is horrible and her license should be taken away! Waste of time off from work. Waste of money when it was not needed and waste of time since she had no answers for me. Dr. Thai does not care about people and their teeth. She ONLY cares about money!!!!
